OUR HISTORY

Mendrop Engineering Resources traces its roots to 2001, when Blake Mendrop co-founded Mendrop-Wages in Madison, Mississippi. Blake brought with him a rare combination of credentials – a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University, hands-on experience at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and deep expertise in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling that would become the firm’s defining differentiator.

The firm’s very first assignment set the tone for everything that followed: providing project management services to the State of Mississippi during development of the Nissan manufacturing site in Canton. That early project established a pattern Mendrop has honored ever since, showing up ready to solve complex problems for clients who need a reliable partner, not just a contractor.

Those foundational hydraulic relationships proved powerful. Blake’s background working with the Corps and his collaborations in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling gave the firm early credibility with MDOT, the Vicksburg District, and clients like CN Railroad and Entergy. Mendrop was among the first firms in Mississippi to utilize HEC-RAS modeling for MDOT – a technical milestone that came directly from the trust built through years of responsive, accurate work.

GROWING THE FOOTPRINT

In 2004, the firm relocated its offices to Ridgeland to better serve a growing client base. Two years later, Mendrop-Wages acquired McBride Engineering in Batesville, extending its reach into North Mississippi. By 2012, the firm had grown substantially enough to stand fully on its own, and Mendrop Engineering Resources, LLC was born.

Expansion continued steadily. A Vicksburg office opened in 2016, planting a flag in a region with deep river engineering and port infrastructure needs that aligned perfectly with Mendrop’s expertise. In 2025, the firm’s central hub moved to Gluckstadt, Mississippi. And in 2026, Mendrop extended its geographic footprint into South Alabama, with staff now operating out of Foley, a reflection of the regional trust the firm has earned over 25 years.

DEPTH OF EXPERTISE, BREADTH OF WORK

What began as a hydraulics-centered practice has grown into a multidisciplinary engineering and surveying firm. Today, Mendrop’s team includes five Professional Engineers, three Professional Land Surveyors (including two dual registrants), four Engineer Interns, a Surveyor Intern, and three UAV pilots, professionals who collectively support everything from roadway design and boundary surveys to bathymetric data collection and hydrologic modeling.

Mendrop has played a meaningful role in some of Mississippi’s most significant infrastructure chapters, supporting bridge and waterway projects with precision survey data, advancing the state’s rapidly growing data center sector with LiDAR surveys and hydraulic studies, and serving as expert witnesses in complex water resources matters. Long-standing relationships with local governments, economic development organizations, and private developers across Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee reflect a firm that earns its clients’ trust – and keeps it.
