Mendrop Engineering Resources is seeking a Survey Field Crew Member to join our team in Gluckstadt, Batesville, or Vicksburg, Mississippi.

This position is suited for someone who enjoys working outdoors and wants to spend the majority of their time in the field. The role involves travel to project sites, typically within a four-hour radius, with occasional overnight stays (company-covered). You’ll work alongside experienced crew members to collect accurate, high-quality survey data across a variety of project types.

What You’ll Do

  • Work as part of a survey crew to perform field data collection on a variety of projects
  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment including GPS units, total stations, robotic total stations, levels, and data collectors
  • Perform a full range of field surveys, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, differential leveling, and horizontal/vertical control
  • Interpret job scopes, plans, and legal documents to execute surveys accurately in the field
  • Collect, organize, and document field data, including notes, sketches, and job logs
  • Support drone (UAS) operations, including launch and recovery, battery changes, and safety checks
  • Ensure fieldwork is completed efficiently, safely, and accurately
  • Perform physical field tasks such as digging for monuments, setting stakes, and carrying equipment (up to 75 lbs) across varying terrain
  • Drive company vehicles to and from project sites
  • Maintain, transport, and care for survey equipment

Details

  • What We’re Looking For:
  • Two-year technical or associate degree in Surveying or a related field OR equivalent relevant work experience in field land surveying
  • Working knowledge of standard survey field procedures and equipment
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Experience performing GPS and conventional surveys, including boundary traverses and control surveys
  • Familiarity with high-accuracy control, topographic mapping, and construction staking
  • Knowledge of survey equipment including total stations, robotic total stations, levels, and GPS systems
  • Experience with or exposure to remote sensing technologies such as LiDAR
  • UAS (drone) pilot certification or willingness to obtain
  • Boating license or willingness to obtain (for bathymetric survey work)
  • Experience with bathymetric or drone-based surveying is a plus
  • Work Environment & Expectations:
  • Primarily outdoor, field-based work in varying weather and terrain conditions
  • Frequent travel to project sites, generally within a four-hour radius, with occasional overnight stays
  • Physically active role requiring lifting, walking, and working on uneven ground
