Ross Barnett Reservoir Dam Breach Analysis

The Pearl River Valley Water Supply District contracted Mendrop to conduct a hydraulic study in order to perform dam breach analyses of the Ross Barnett Reservoir. The goal of the study was to provide technical guidance for evaluating and potentially updating the existing Emergency Action Plan.

The Pearl River Valley Water Supply District wanted to update scenarios to model a larger magnitude inflow discharge while evaluating “full pool” conditions. The analyses included breach outflow discharges and hydrographs, peak flood elevations, flood wave arrival times, and peak elevation inundation maps for the reach of the Pearl River downstream of Ross Barnett Reservoir Dam to Monticello, MS.
